An Seanachaí has been visited by the famous and not so and it is rumoured that Mrs Kenneally landlady hid Eamon De Valera under her bed when he was on the run from the Black & Tans. The spirits of all that have gone before still linger in this modern day Seanachaí

Traditionally An Seanachaí was famous for its music sessions and dance. Nowadays we welcome musicians who like to join in the traditional Irish session on Sunday nights. We provide music to suit all tastes from traditional sessions to Ballad groups to your modern day DJ for outdoor parties or special occasions. Music and craic are the rule of thumb in this traditional Irish pub.

The country kitchen style restaurant, with kitchen tables and chairs seats up to 80 people and serves up the finest of country traditional Irish meals. We can cater for any of your special occasions in this homely cosy room. An Seanachaí began its life in the famine years when it welcomed and fed the mourners who came to the top of the hill to bury their dead. This piece of history is carried through the restaurant with its selections of potato that are on the menu.

An Seanachaí has seen many sad times in the early years, but if the walls could talk An Seanachaí would have many a scéal to tell of happy days when music & dance and ceol agus craic were the order of the day. The big open fireplace traditionally is where stories and scéals were recounted.
