The Old Parish Room Relaunched

6th November 2008

The Old Parish Room @ An Seanachaí got a mini facelift and was re-launched on Thursday evening 23rd October by Deputy County Mayor Damien Geoghegan. Despite the torrential rain and gales of wind, patrons and friends of An Seanachaí turned up in their numbers to sample the delightful food and wine that was on offer. An Seanachaí has been in existence for centuries but was re-opened in 2006 by Johnnie & Mags Hurley. In the present climate of credit crunch and recession Johnnie & Mags are not prepared to sit and wait for the punters to just walk in from the street but they are constantly striving to find new and better ways to make their customers visit to An Seanachaí a memorable and a morish one.

Thursday evening was one of those special evenings with the soft lighting from the candles dotted all over the restaurant to the rustic timber tables set with beautiful slate table mats. The ambience and warmth of the Old Parish Room was welcoming and inviting and soon the sounds of talking and laughter took over only to be interrupted by the filling of wine glasses and the tasting of the delights that were on offer.

Some of the tasty treats were Gallette of Pork Belly, Seanachaí Meatballs, Smoked Salmon Mousse, Chicken Liver Foie Gras, Roast Vegetable Tart and Deep Fried Goats Cheese. These were followed by strawberry tartlets and Chocolate Brownies. To celebrate the launch of the old Parish Room restaurant An Seanachaí has a wonderful dinner menu on offer 4 people can dine for €99, four courses. An Seanachaí also launched its Christmas party menu on Thursday evening this also is very good value at €39 per head.

Not standing still Johnnie and Mags have the twelve holiday cottages adjacent to An Seanachaí and these are available for short term holiday rent, offering good deals in off peak times. There is a very interesting calendar of events planned at An Seanachaí between here and Christmas starting on November 11th with a cookery demonstration with the Executive Chef Ross Barrett. Phone Mags 058 46755 for bookings and details of all events coming up.
